The Spangled Drongo (dicrurus bracteatus) is about 28-32 cm and is a migrant bird that can be found in eastern and northern Australia. This one I found in Airlie Beach, Qld. They are usually seen sitting on a prominent perch flicking their forked fish like tail open and shut or darting erratically in flight catching insects. Their call is a “grut-grut cris grut” – harsh, variable and metallic and it can also mimic other birds.
