I saw these gooseberries in the store the other day and they just fascinated me with their lovely casings hiding the bright orange berries. I thought they might suit one of the pieces of Katie’s pottery.
Suit? Did you say Suit? Oh my, they so bring out the wonderful tones of the pottery. All seems to work in concert with light, color and shadows. I love the little berry peeping out as well. Holly, truly another one of your finest works!
Awwww…thanks Carolyn. There have been so many photos tossed into the bin lately I’m very glad you think this one works. I just loved those gooseberries when I first saw them. If I didn’t take a list to the grocery store these days all I’d come home with is stuff to photograph. :-D
Fabulous work! I love everything about this. We never know when inspiration will come.
And so often the inspiration happens at the grocery store! LoL Thank you Marjorie….I’m really glad you like it! :-)

Yup – Von got it right – masterful!! And that pot is gorgeous!! You call these gooseberries? They look like Chinese lanterns… are they the same things?
Isn’t that pot sweet! Katie’s been using it for little bits and pieces so I just emptied everything into a bag and took it. :-D
I thought they looked like Chinese lanterns too when I saw them in the grocery store but the label said they were gooseberries. They didn’t look like any gooseberries I’ve ever seen in a can of fruit cocktail (ha!) so I looked them up and their a relative of the gooseberry we’re used to seeing.

The contrast between the texture of the casings and smoothness of the pottery is brilliant.
Masterfully executed Holly.
