The roses that were my Valentine’s gift have dried and the pottery vase from my daughter has just been waiting for the right ‘something’ to fill it. My plan with these photographs of my daughter’s pottery is to photograph as many of her pieces as possible before they’ve all been given away so she’ll have a record of her work.
I’ve mentioned before that I find roses difficult to photograph. Well, dried roses are even worse! LoL The camera picks up every very dry area and makes a spectacular blown-out highlight. You wouldn’t think a photograph of roses would be accompanied by some rather awful growling noises on the part of the photographer but maybe those growls added some texture. :-D
Your stills are so beautiful & inspirational Holly. I love the texture of the dried roses. The roses and the beautiful pot compliment each other so well. Your daughter is going to have a gorgeous portfolio of her pottery!
Renee, that is a lovely comment….I’m still learning still life so it’s your comment that’s inspirational. Thank you so much!! :-)
I think the photo is stunning….the vase is wonderful….where does she sell her work?
Thank you so much Janis!! I’ll pass along your comment to my daughter. She hasn’t started selling yet….although I think it won’t be long before she is. Her big problem right now is that she keeps giving away her work ….which just may have something to do with the fact that the entire family has their hands outstretched as they cry, ‘gimme’. :-)
Holly you have achieved your task extremely well, the textures of the dried roses and your daughters rustic pottery compliment each other.
Thank you so much Kathy. I really wasn’t sure at first what to use with this vase and tried a few different things. I’m glad you think the roses work! :-)
This is a wonderful composition Holly! Everything just blends so well together. You picked the perfect background! It really compliments the texture of the roses and the vase. I just want to add that I really enjoy the mother and daughter teamwork that goes into you photos! All I have left to say is BRAVO!!! :-)
Oh Dave…again such a wonderful comment. Thank you so much. It’s amazing to me how long a still life takes…and a big part of that for me is trying to work out a background I think, and hope, will work. I’m so glad you think this one does.
Ah….the mother/daughter team….it’s just the best fun. But then I have the best daughter ever! :-)
