You know, the wonderful thing about still life is that the subject is still ….a very big plus after spending so much time trying to get macro shots of flowers that blow willy nilly in the slightest breeze and create a memory card full of out of focus shots. The other thing that I’m loving is the way the subject doesn’t mind all the fiddling ….being arranged and re-arranged…although I do think I heard a bit of a squeak from these onions and potatoes. They may have been on the verge of going on strike after all the manhandling. :-D

Holly, I think I love your narrative as much as this beautiful still life. I so love how many opportunities there are with photography, how many genres. You have such a knack for seeing these images in your mind. My genre requires me to find my subjects. You must see images in your imagination, and then create them. I just love your work with still life, Holly.

  • Thanks David! :-) Isn’t it the truth about photography. It’s always so interesting to me to see other people’s work and how they view a particular subject and then interpret it in a photograph or painting. I do rather see pictures in my imagination but only partially. It all sort of evolves as I go along. Most of the time I download and then go back and re-shoot….I re-shoot a lot!! :-D

I love your sense of humor Holly. I can relate to your frustration with the flowers blowing in the breeze – only my frustration usually comes from thousands of rear end shots of little songbirds that I have feverishly tried to capture in flight…lol Another beautiful still….so inspiring!

  • Oh my gosh….laughed right out loud at that Renne!! I’ve tried photographing birds without much success and it’s very much as you’ve said…lots of little behinds flying away from me in a blur!! Thanks for the laugh and the comment!! :-)

Holly, Holly, Holly. What can be said? Your still life’s have a life of there own. All your photos go beyond the ‘pretty picture’ scenario. This one I can see caring, tenderness, patience and respect. The love of your craft really shines through!! The best part is that all your work comes with a little piece of your heart and soul. :-)
Trust me, I think that all of your subjects loved the attention you gave them!!

  • Oh my. Dave, this is such a wonderful comment. I hardly know what to say ….thank you so much!!! Bless you. :-)

There is nothing left for me to say!!!! All of the above and more! Simply stunning work Holly. I had to have a little chuckle to myself over Kate Adams comment…you have such an eye for lighting,,I remember back in the PG days…..“Watch the lighting” lol. Well, I have to agree with her now though, you’ve certainly got that weighed off. Just perfect.

  • LoL Pat! I chuckled at that comment of Kate’s too.

:-D….watch the light indeed! I’m so glad the gang came to RB….it’s been a whole new world hasn’t it?
Thanks for the comment Pat! (Sheesh, it’s hard to think of you as Pat and not Plukie!! ) :-)
