There’s already a vertical of this particular “After The Fire” moment but I like the way this one shows more of the scene and the sky.

I know I’m always talking about ‘light’ but the morning I got this photo (same morning as Light Meets Dark Over Kilcurry Farm) was the day I began to realize I needed to pay closer attention to light and the way it affects colour and objects. I imagine it’s going to be a lifelong endeavour to train my eye to see light really well though. The reds are the effects of the earliest moments of sunrise.

Wow – such pretty tonality in this Holly! And the colours are so rich! Just beautiful!

  • Thanks Jan! I took this about 2 weeks after I got my dslr and when I took this and looked at the monitor I thought something was wrong with the camera. LoL

lovely, and you are right, we will all learn as days go by and lighting changes, the same shot can abe dramatically different in a different light!

  • Isn’t it the truth Jody! One moment a scene can be dull as dishwater but when the light changes it can become one of those moments when we kick ourselves if we don’t have our camera with us! :-D

Holly, a totally lucious composition. I love the orange reflected light on the trees against the dark sky. Yeah, you are so in tune to the light. Wonderfully beautiful piece!

  • Thank you so much Carolyn! Until the morning I got this I had no idea the earliest morning light was red. Now I look for it….and if there’s a dark sky so much the better. :-)

Really like the low angle you have taken this shot from – the colours are bursting too.

  • Trust you HH to notice something like the angle….what a good eye you have! This was taken on New Year’s Eve morning of 2006 and it was cold lying on the ground! LoL
