After The Fire - Still Standing
This was taken just as the sun was rising one December morning. The red of the earliest of morning light against the dark clouds of the sky created a most interesting scene.
The location is a burned out farmhouse and the property is now being developed as a housing tract. Last week the trees were cut down and the area is being bull dozed to make way for suburbia. The scenic country roads in this area are disappearing fast.

Oh how beautiful….... what a shame…. Holly – this is gorgeous!! wow. Glad you got it before it turned into a townhouse!
Travis Easton, 6 months ago
That light is just fantastic Holly, really shows the tree off.
Holly Cawfield in reply to Jan Piller’s comment, 6 months ago
Thanks Jan! The houses have encroached now beyond that horizon line and the tree no longer exists. It’s a bit disconcerting to drive along that road now and see the ‘progress’.

Beautiful capture … The red cast from the sun, also that small bit of blue sky peeping through is wonderful.

Thanks Travis! This is one of a series and also the morning I learned the importance of watching the light. That day will always be one of those defining moments and it quite changed the way I see.

This is gorgeous, I love the colours. The glimpse of blue through the clouds is a great contrast to the deep tones. How sad that such a beautiful tree has been destroyed :-(

Isn’t it exciting when you learn something new. Gives you a true appreciation of just how many little revelations the photographic masters must have had to develop from average joe to amazing artist.

Stunning! Do these homes have a central clubhouse where people living there could see how it used to look? Lovely!

Love the tones in this. I bet you’re glad you got to it before the bulldozers did. There’s a place close to me headed for a similar fate that I’ve been meaning to photograph. I’ll regret it if I don’t get to it soon.

Brilliantly executed.. red dusk .. dawn and Red Terra Cotta feeling here.. Simply soothing, yet depressing in the same sense.., The colors blend and bounce brilliantly..

This is a beautiful capture of a rare sight for me, an Irishman, living in london and working as a missionary in Africa. I love this, and would never see a scene like this unless I saw your art. Thank you so much
