This was a cold and grey winter day when I was down at the lakeshore. There were a plethora of gulls looking for a handout and becoming quite frantic for the breadcrusts I was throwing. They’re such comical creatures and so much fun to try and photograph. These two were a very determined pair!

Jon, you were a great help on this image. This is the one you taught me about the RGB levels and it’s been a wonderful tool thanks to your help!

Yah – the colours in this are exquisite!! (and now I have Jon’s name heheheh) Did they really collide?

  • Holly Cawfield replied

They really did Jan. It was one of those times when I could hardly wait to get home to see if the shot was really in focus. And btw, Jon is brilliant with editing!!

Great shot works well with the light background and dark wings. I try very hard to capture shots like this but still nowhere near as good as yours holly ;)

Wow, thanks HH! You know I’m a fan of your work so that’s quite a comment. Now when spring arrives maybe I’ll be able to finally get the apple blossom you’ve inspired! ;-)
