I rather think the same could be said for photographing roses.

Thanks David… my friend Eyestrange (Pat Hartley) has often reminded me of three words when it comes to photography….’practice, practice, practice’. I keep repeating those words when I’m setting up a still life. :-D

Absolutely beautiful again Holly. Terrific lighting and composition. The tones really give this an “old masters” feel that is very inviting. And you are so right! I find roses incredibly difficult to photograph. I have never managed to take a photo of a rose that captures what they say to me. And they are my favourite flower! One day!

Thank you so much Pauline! I use the Canon 400D (Rebel xti) and in this case I used the kit lens. Either that or my prime are what I like for the still life shots. I know you’re looking at getting the Canon macro….believe me, you won’t regret it! :-)
