    Okay Holly, this one is so good it gave me chilly bumps! Your light and composition are both enviable and beautiful. I especially love the textured background that has traces of the red strawberries in it. This reminds me of a classical painting. Ah, that is what this piece says…..CLASS!....FIRST CLASS!

I read an article on composition the other day that there’s always supposed to be something for the viewer to discover in a piece…something that isn’t obvious. You discovered it!! :-D

    What a kind comment David. I’m only just learning still life and there’s a long way to go…. if you ever saw my ‘deleted items’ file you’d know what I mean! LoL I don’t have any studio lights and usually I depend on natural light. However, this week the weather is just February grey so I’ve been using one of the flourescent compact bulbs….at least on this one I did. I’m not trying to cast a light over a wide area so it seems to be sufficient but I really like natural light the best and especially when the light hits on certain angles through the window of the sunroom here. I did some online window shopping for studio lights….yikes!...so I’m thinking I might pick up some construction lights at the hardware store as per Jan Piller’s suggestion and see how they work.

    Both the composition and artwork are literally a real treat for the viewers eyes! The lighting and direction of it is lovely! The soft background couldn’t be better, with the hues in green and red to so perfectly tie into the color of the strawberries and the leaves on them! I can almost smell the sweet strawberries! Beautiful work Holly!!! Have to add this to my favorites! :))
