Uncle shmuncle, becoming a grandpa has been the greatest and most unexpected joy in my life, I’m happy for you Helen, even if you think you aren’t ready :)))
I made my mother a grandmother when she was pregnant with my half brother. I think that’s about when she completely stopped talking to me. :) I’m guessing you have about 7 1/2 months to start practicing saying “grandma” until it sounds natural.
Oh Joan, Jay is just having so much fun with this. He is the step- father so he isn’t “technically” a grandfather – he is teasing me pretty good right now. That’s ok – “granny” can still kick butt. :-)
hey this is awesome news Helen… and being a grandma is cool and there can be worse things… one of my younger sisters has been a grandma for a while now…. so technically I’ve been older than a grandma…. which is really kind of weird as I’m still enjoying a lot of my troubled teenage angst type activites…...well done to all ….:)
Helen, I was like 5 or 6 when I became an aunt for the first time… so when the nephew of mine had a kid around 6 years ago, I became a great-aunt. That felt good but weird. Now my 28 yr old niece who is young enough to be my daughter is having her first on Dec. 25. Then I will really feel like a great-auntie. My sis is over the moon – can’t wait!! Have fun, Honey.

I’m there with ya on the grandma word….........I haven’t even embraced the ‘f’-word ( fifty!) yet and I’m almost 2 years past that one now. ;o) Though shhhhh, don’t tell anyone! ha ha ha ha I’ve been told grandchildren are the reward for not killing your kids when they were teenagers. heh heh But then I actually mostly enjoyed my kids at every stage. Oh! And then there’s paybacks! I like that one too. Oh, there could be quite a few positives to this grandma thingy, You’re going to have so much fun!!!! XOXOXO
