A worthy cause indeed!.

In my experience, No.10 is the most important of all…if done properly, it removes concern for all the others.

At about 10 or 11 years of age, a boy starts to realise that he is physically as strong, or stronger than his mother. At this point, it is crucial that the father or other male role model steps in and reigns in this behaviour.

Sadly, many boys and men don’t get this sort of support early on. These under-fathered boys sometimes grow up into violent men.

The real tragedy is that they are, to an extent, as much a victim as those they seek to oppress.

Helen, thank you for this important message! My father was abusive to my mother, and one thing I learned from it is: real men already know and practice these principles. The abusive males (notice I did not refer to them as men!) lack confidence in their manhood, and have to prove to the world they are men.

Yea, this should have been more of a general 10 Things Everyone Can Do To Prevent Violence. But it’s general enough to be adapted to any relationship situation.

Thanks Helen…In Australia, several years ago, they made it compulsory for doctors to report violence against children.. They still argue over making it compulsory to report violence against females. Prity twisted really. I thought that they would become an accessory if they didn’t report any violence they became aware of. I think we all should not only report it, but be prepared to stand up against it.
