wonderful helen, good treatment of image I love this technique of yours. Wonder how the USA and China etc are going to function when oil reaches $200 a barrel soon. By the way, didn’t GW Bush have his colonoscopy today?
The penetration of the Presidential Asshole is somehow a fitting moment for reflection. Who among us-
Democrat, Liberal, Progressive, Communist, Socialist, Anarchist, even the odd Republican-would not like to be the one shoving several feet of garden hose, roughly up The First Fool’s ass? It’s a mental picture at the same time gross and satisfying, doing to His Highness what he’s been doing to all of us for eight years. The US and around the world.Just imagine shoving away: here’s a yard for Iraq! Here’s a few feet for Afganistan! A big, BIG push for New Orleans! A bit for Valerie Plame and another foot or two for Joe Wilson! And more and more for the seniors without affordable prescriptions; children without health care; EVERYONE without health care! And education, human rights, torture, Gitmo…oops! Sorry, we ran out of hose. The rest of you will have to wait until next year.
It’s worth noting that King Geo the Second has health insurance, and you can bet he won’t be receiving a bill for his colonoscopy. The taxpayers will most certainly get the bill for this search for Presidential Polyps.

Great image Helen, great tonal colours.

awesome shot Helen,,,over here in oz petrol is going for around $1.70 a litre,,, this is such a huge global issue, but on the same token, we have become so reliant on our cars, and yet the global warming issue still hasnt hit us,, we are more concerned with keeping our cars. We can not have it both ways!! We need to look after the planet, as well as our bank accounts!!

love the perspective and all the crooked poles on a lean. Nice photo.

£1.18 (UK) per litre, or £5.20 per gallon. So thats nearly 10 dollars per gallon, cant survive, no point going to work, not making enough money, ................I can feel a political rant coming on, so i’m going to leave it.
Great image Helen.
Moshe Cohen
You should not complain you are paying half the price it costs here, the price here is $8 for gallon.
If this price will reduce the global warming then it’s ok, just have to find cleaner and cheaper alternative.
A lovely image, I love the power line, the trees, the road and the clouds all leading into the picture.

Great shot Helen. Can you give me some details on camera etc….... On the fuel issue, we in Australia are paying about AUD$1-60 per litre, which works out a lot more than in the USA. We have something called world parity costing, which is to say the Government add tax to make us pay more for fuel. The Government have been making a wind fall out of the world price rise. They get more tax. About 75% of the cost of fuel here is direct tax to the government. Do they spend the extra earned, on fuel efficency programs and development ? Of course not.
If all the oil and motor companies released the patents that they have bought over the past 50 years that improve fuel consumption, the world would not be in a fuel crisis. Of course they have more influence over government than any of us do, so nothing will change.
Mean while, another child has just starved.
Wendy Slee
1 gallon = 3.78 litres I think….so at that rate, we are paying $1.69 per litre….. or roughly $6.40 per gallon….
Yeah it sucks…. and we don’t just pay for it with fuel….everything has fuel cost (for freight) added on and the prices are increasing all the time…..
The world has gone crazy, and no matter how much the people suffer, the governments keep their huge greedy taxes on fuel so the cost is out of reach for so many…... the world I fear, is about to grind to a bloody big halt!
(The oil companies and the governments can KMA!!)

Helen,
Stunning shot….as always beautiful sky…...I think your sky work has really helped to carve out a signature look for your images.
BTW petrol runs to about US $6 per US gallon here in Australia.

Very good. I like the juxtapositioning of the telephone poles and the trees, seperated by the well used road, and the seemingly impending storm.

This is a photo with so much feelings in it I love the details and the color! Super capture reminds me of when I was young in North Carolina walking to get a water mellon with my cousin! Super Image And that was when gas was 10 cents a gallon! Nice time to bike it or go electric! ;))

Helen, first of all, this is a lovely image! It really pops! I love it! Secondly, the average price of gas is low compared to what it is here in California. I paid $4.59 last night. I died. It is horrible. I have done some gasoline inspired art and I always get people from other countries who make it sound like we are over complaining and that they have it worse. But, what a lot of other countries do not understand is that the reason why it affects us so, so much here is because our gasoline prices stayed pretty regimented for awhile and would go up with the standard cost of living. But, in the past three years it has shot far way up there more than at any other period in our country’s history and this is a bit of culture shock for us. So, yes, gas is high everywhere and it affects everyone everywhere. However, for us, it is like being jolted out of some normalcy and put into a position of unfamiliarity. It is hard for others in other parts of the world to appreciate, but it is horrible when just a few years ago 20 bucks could fill up my tanks and now it is more like $80. If that is not culture shock, then I do not know what is. And, that is why most of us here are up in arms about it. Not because we wanna complain about unfairness, but because it seems unreal.
Oh, and I must also add that gas prices are higher in Europe because of added taxes as well. We pay those taxes elsewhere from our pockets, so it is almost evened out…we were just unprepared for it.
H M Bascom replied
$4.30 was the price of a gallon of gas 6 days ago when I uploaded the photo. I’m sure it’s probably $4.60 here too. I walk a lot, so I don’t buy gasoline very often.
Our wages are not keeping up with inflation and the cost of living, so every dollar we earn is work less and less each year. This is why it’s so hard on us Americans when gasoline costs sky rocket.

Correction: work less should read worth less

Beautiful image Helen, love the perspective…sounds like the fuel prices are a worry internationally….we’ll soon be stuck to taking photographs in our own backyards…how sad that thought is!!!

Wow, that looks so lonely there. Not surprised, if no one can afford to drive!
The highest price for petrol near me in London, UK, is £1.24 per litre – that’s £4.70 per gallon, or $9.04!!

It’s wonderful. I liked the tones in this image. Well deserved feature. Helen.
The highest price for petrol in India, is Rs. 59.00 per liter – that’s $ 5.31 per gallon :))
