This lovely Bird was hiding between the rock formation and sea weeds, at a rocky beach at Collaroy.

Can someone tell me the name of this type of bird? It will be much appreciated.

I think it is a heron which is a wading bird. Great lighting and subject.

Hi again, it also might be a grey ibis. I’ll look it up in my Bird Book.

The book didn’t list an Ibis but there were different coloured birds to your one and they were herons. I hope someone else gives an opinion that may know better than me.

  • Maureen,

Thankyou for the hints. Following the names you have suggested, I think it is a type of Crane.

    I haven’t pinpointed the type yet…

    Thankyou for your input.

Beautiful capture hinting. He surely does blend in with the surroundings. What kind of bird is this? Looks like some sort of heron. Great composition. Well done. Kathy :)

  • Yeah. Particularly the legs..
