Actually, I’m not sure whether this is a mooring float or a channel marker buoy, maybe one of you nautical types can tell me. This is a very odd, minimalist painting for me, as it is a tiny detail taken from a superb photograph of Kirkcudbright harbour in Scotland. I own a print of this but I did ask the photographer, Phil McMenemy, for permission to use it.

Phil produces THE most beautiful images of South West Scotland but also has an eye for the tiny detail that makes you stop and look again – one leaf on the water, one strip of seaweed on the sand. Do have a look.
