"Are you safe from another's perception?"

Political correctness to an extreme…
now it is based on the perception of
a reality, and it doesn’t matter what the
reality is… just the perception of it,
facts don’t matter any more and when
anyone wants to complain… and they
will, it’s just a matter of time to be
subjected to a perception and fit…
a fit of disrespect… a moment of
righteous indignation, a bad mood
taken to an extreme, they looked at
me wrong (a perception) by view,
don’t you see… it has nothing to do
with the you you are… it’s them, and
now it matters little what reality you
are then experiencing… so get a clue.

"Are you safe from another's perception?" by

I could have called this,“When history knocks at your door.” We have heard of this same thing throughout history: the witch hunts in Salem, the Spanish Inquisition or the McCarthy years. Take this to the corporate level… apply the term “perception” and step back a second. To perceive something speaks of all the senses and should then be considered the most general term, a generality.

From being vague (words like ‘opinion’ and even ‘interpretation’ might apply), perception can be further defined with descry or espy. It can be as precise as implying,‘That conductor can perceive the slightest pitch differential in the instruments played.’

The opposite holds true… to misconceive, misapprehend or overlook.

oh yes. it could be all in the mind!

  • Not only could it be all in the mind but if someone wants to complain about you, if for any reason, it is now the precedent of determinism… the determination of another individual that will bear the weight of discovery, meaning, in the corporate world,“The very fulcrum used to allow you to continue to work, to deprive you of your job or to declare ‘a pattern’ to your behavior has been established.” Thanks for your comment Anthony.

They may be able to force you to go to classes ans associate with people you don’t want to be with , but they can’t change your heart or thoughts . If they get angry then it only proves that they were wrong . Watch Fox news tonight at 9pm eastern time .

wow. strong clear . . . a living and active word here Russell. shoowee! well said.

  • Words… they can actually move one to understand their import to our lives or be used destructively… to hurt or harm another, and (now) based on the perception or bias we choose to use them from. Thanks Yvonca. xo

    Bravo Russell!
If only we would all realize this and hold it close. So much less drama and heartache would ensue.

  • Thank you Cynthia… and I’m all for less drama in our lives but there will be many who desire it, and desire it for themselves alone. xo

We are all ‘victims’ of others perceptions….first impressions and all that. As much as i dislike politicians, i do have some sympathy for the fact that most are chasing shadows of misconception on everything they say or do….so much so that they can become scared to do anything..
Who was it who said…“we get the politicians we deserve”? perhaps we should add, we create!

    Excellent thought provoking piece….:)

  • I do thank you for your comment indigo-song, and the thoughts you freely place here on this work. When it comes to politicians… I think they can get caught up in their own PR, even worse when we do also. They attempt to manipulate the perceptions we would see in them… and then criticize each other for ‘waffling.’ Remember the story about six blind men and the elephant… the many perceptions they were left with, as to what an elephant is? It all depends on our bias we have, the circumstance of contact… and then the feelings evoked (should feelings even come into the equation), for today we see more emphasis on ‘mine’ and not ‘yours’ as the basis to be used throughout society at large. Thanks again.

I think this seems to be the case so often….idiots who Deliberately misunderstand and play to an imaginary audience in order to promote themselves at your expense. Smart Arses and Fools……steer clear of Fools
    Regards
    Frank

  • Hello Frank, and yes… I would stay clear of fools. LOL I see the fulcrum of this dance being played among us (when instances arise that bear this stamp of and type of situation) to increase if there are those that seek to control: the situation, you or the outcome. Our feelings would not be given the time of day. You take care Frank.

There’s an expression in French which I venture to translate as follows: we judge ourselves by our intention and others by our perception.

It doesn’t stop us French from perceiving the rest of you as poor benighted souls, labouring under the misfortune of not being… er… French.

And I suppose every country must have the same approach.

As I grow older, I’m increasingly impressed not by how easily we differ in our ideas of difference, but how easily we use the same differentiating engines to arrive at different conclusions.

  • Your comment is most accurate in presentation, thoughts to focus on and is agreed with. We seem to have the lost the sense that even with difference there is more commonality to our lives than not. The truest difference is found in our: approach, application… and outcome without expectation to conclusion, where free choice is the measure to use and maintain an outlook from. It is so very American… an idea born in France.

Bravo. Kudos! I have the saying that if people don’t like you for who/what you are, that’s their loss. Never try to conform to their expectations and perceptions. People form a perception of you within 3 seconds of meeting you….. If they don’t like it, and this happens often – screw ’em!

  • I do understand your sentiment here but I say they have the right to decide on their own… as long as it doesn’t infringe on my right to believe as I so choose to. To each their own. Thanks for your comment.
