The spot may be the same, but I have changed

Sitting here
in what feels like
the exact same spot
I stare out the window
while sipping on honey tea,
and listen to the high notes of a piano
as it clashes with drums and strings
in the most beautiful way
I realize
that life will be alright
no matter how cloudy the sky may be.
People hold hands outside;
and laugh as they walk in stride
with growing grass,
while the breeze
sweeps through all the branches
of the trees like a ghost,
and it takes their worries
like a feather from a bird
to gently float on the air of day.
I can almost taste summer
and the scent of forthcoming rain
makes me smile
in the face of thunder and lightning.
What’s the point in being afraid
of something so inevitable?

Sitting here
in what feel like
the exact same spot
I stare out the window
while breathing in an air so pure
like I had just remembered to inhale
for the first time in years
and it feels so damn good
to be alive.
It
feels
so
good.

I have finally freed myself
from me.

The spot may be the same, but I have changed
