Dear Daydream,

Daydream, take her
far from haunting pain.
The colors in her eyes are hollow;
washed away in a river
clouded with ghostly figures.
I see you, daydream,
floating on the surface
of her glazed over expression
so I close my eyes
and try to catch up,
but you’ve disappeared in the sunrise.
I open them hoping
I know where you’re leading her.

Daydream, please give her wings
to lift her above the smog
so she can breathe the fresh air
her lungs deserve.
God she looks beautiful-
in the suns arms,
in my arms,
in orange October.
Daydream return her,
to the tight embrace of love,
to the warmth of interlaced fingers.
With tears, I remember
the autumn grass on my back,
staring into her eyes smiling;
awestruck.

Daydream, please,
take her far from the pain,
far from feeling worthless,
and back to her favorite colors,
back to her real smile…
back to me.

Dear Daydream,
