Grayscale Perspective

Entering a room of memories
I find you in the seat
where you have always been.
Yellow paged magazines
are in scattered heaps
around a motionless body-
but you are still breathing
ever so shallowly.
Those green eyes
that I once fell in love with
are colorless and weary now,
while you stare at the lines
of an overread poem.
One single tear releases its hold
and lands on the page;
the same spot
all the other tears have landed.
But you don’t seem to notice your tears,
you don’t seem to notice me either-
with my hand on your shoulder.
Where have you gone?
You were once so bright,
so happy.
You truly lived.
But now…
I don’t know who you are anymore.
I am trying to look
past what your life has turned you into,
but you ar casting a black and white shadow,
and I can’t find the colors
that used to paint our world.

The beginning of the piece drew me in with the body on the ground and the eyes that are tired now..really cool writing..love the ending as well.

If I wasn’t aware of your age and someone asked me how old I thought the author of most of your work was, I’d have guessed 40, 41’ish.

Oh how I wish I had had as much wits about me as you do at your age man. Damn good stuff.

  • wow man, thank you so much. I just hope I will be able to write as fluidly as you one day.
