Sitting on the couch
with my fingers crossed,
I’ve tossed my pride off the top rock.
Oh, stop,
to see what the goblin got in it’s grip
..don’t go for the sweet spot.
I watched all your trust be bought
by the nightlife,
but I am the sunlight.
My rays will rot,
get twisted and lost
in the ticks and the tocks, tocks.
Everyone talks.

Time’s playing against me
and beating me relentlessly.
I’m trying to avoid
all my cognitive debris,
but they’re coming between
my heart and my mentality.

In the kitchen drawer
with my wits I’ll hide,
and expose your stains in my black light.
Oh, ride
a wave of distracted eyes,
that would die,
for a taste of the neon tide.
Bye, bye, you were preoccupied
in the slipstream
of fashion magazines.
Tongue tied,
bound by the ghouls inside my own lungs.
They are hiding behind my ribs.

I wish one of us would give in.
I can tell, this must be hell,
cause I threw my last cent down the wishing well
and wished you well.
I wish you well.

I read of love and the game of chess that can ensue when one has moved to a different square. The sense of frustration and loss comes across without any sense of pity… just is a difficult time. Always has been for anyone who has been on this playing field….I remember well this game of love chess. x

  • yes it can be very taxing! thank you for the comment

a brillant piece of writing. Love hurts in many ways, in coming and going. It’s a pain that is hard to live without or with sometimes. Brilliant

  • yes i agree completely. it has a way of both negatively and positively impacting at the same time. thanks for reading Mark
