Poisoned Coffee

Caffeine is the only thing
keeping my eyelids
from crashing;
to send me into a cruel illusion
of feeling.

I don’t think I’ll escape in my sleep,
so i might end up collapsing.
You say you’ve always been numb,
but I can tell
you’re lying.

Between these freezing sheets,
was once electricity.
Your breathing tells me your just trying to fake sleep;
were you fake for me?
Would you fake for me?

I’ll drink another cup of shitty coffee,
with brandy,
so my body can absorb the heat.
I don’t think
a car bumper would even sting
if it hit me.
So come and get me.

Spinning
into the crystal air; I’m stirring,
I hope you
can find my heart in all the words I’m slurring.
My bones
need to feel a little closure,
but I’m losing balance;
stumbling on the
edge of my composure.
