Pottery
This is another shot taken in Pakistan capturing the beauty that is created by the hands of the people. Here you see a man’s hands forming a bowl identical to the tens and twenties he has already created that morning. What you don’t see is that he sits on a flat rock on the floor surrounded by sand and gravel under a tattered tent shielding him from the blistering heat. But these conditions do not effect the perfection of his craft. In the hour I spent with him, never did a bowl turn out to be anything other than what he expected, perfect.

Pottery belongs to the following groups:
Bokeh, Globes, Spheres and Curves - 2 per day, Hands and Just Brown Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

a really interesting and unique image, great work

Love the composition, the interlinking circles keep the image together, the movement adds to the drama of throwing the pot.

thanks. i was amazed at the ease with which he was creating all these cups and vases…he even went on to use a small tool to make ungravings on them while still turning on the wheel.

I like how you captured the motion of creating. I use to have a small pottery studio, but never this good on the wheel.
Hena Tayeb replied
thank you. what did u make? i’ve tried the wheel, definately not easy.
jegustavsen
I made some mugs, vases, etc. I did more slab design which I noticed in Crate & Barrell some of their coffee mugs, flatware is a slab design. I agree the wheel was not easy. Some days I would be on a role, other days nothing turned out well.
Hena Tayeb replied
that is really cool. working with clay was never my thing but we had to do a short course in college..it was kind of mandatory. i was always bad at it but was amazed at what wonderful things some of my classmates were able to produce.
