Aged 16, I went to Australia. This experience fired my desire to create wonderful images with a passion and enthusiasm, as lighting conditions were perfect and the aboriginal people offered such a fascinating contrast to the city dwellers. I have always had a great affinity with portraiture – having been influenced by iconic photographers, like Yousuf Karsh.
When I got back to the UK, I did National Service then opened my own studio doing weddings, portraits and makeovers. I was accepted by Kodak for an intensive professional training course and studied Master Photographers such as Monty Zuker, Charles Green and Peter Dyer. I was a member of the prestigious London Portrait Group, BIPP and an official photographer for the European Parliament. I have freelanced for major magazines photographing personalities and celebrities such as David Bowie and Sir Richard Branson.
