“If you want something you’ve never had, then you’ve got to do something you’ve never done.”
Some of you may have already read this but when I posted it somehow it didn’t get posted as a journal post and has been driving me nuts not being in the right section so I’m reposting it into my journal where it should be just feels better this way lol. Little bit of an update my view count has made it to 104000 , most grateful to all of you RB really has changed so many things like a huge window on the world full of ideas an inspiration .
Last yr I bravely stepped out of my comfort zone and did many things I have never done before , my beautiful friend Tammy pushed me gently into taking some photos of her an her roller derby buddy which led me into more Roller Derby photos for the clubs fundraiser calendar .The roller derby girls are an amazing bunch of women some of which are involved in a group called “The Bunbury Arts Project” which brings all sorts of artistic groups to Bunbury to run workshops , I asked if I could photograph one of the Burlesque shows being run an was thrilled Kate said yes as this has been such a huge learning curve on low light camera settings , new lenses an the want of more lenses lol.
Tammy of course asked me to photograph her Wedding which was a team effort with Craig (my partner) , now we both understand why Wedding photographers charge so much money as there is so much involved that one would never ever even think of until your thrown into the deep end. I take my hat off to those Wedding photographers an there amazing skills, we were left feeling we could have done so much better "if only " lol tho having said that Tammy loves her photos an that is all that matters ( we learnt so much from the experience ).
Another first was by chance seeing some photos of the old Coggee powerhouse in Fremantle on RB which got me thinking hhhmmmm I wonder if Craig an I could get in there , so of course I mentioned it to Craig an he said "not sure we will be able to get in there " but of where there is a will there is a way an the art in there has to be seen to be believed.
Photographed The Blackwood River Marathon which my friend Nic an Caitlin so kindly invited me along to ( they came 3rd it was awesome).
Have had 3 of my photographs published in our local newspaper one was a Bellydance image one was from the Blackwood Marathon and the other was of a Lady Protesting .
There are many more occasions last yr I thought to myself "should I or shouldn’t I? oh what the hell I can only ask an they can just say no " lol
Really in the grand scheme of photography all of the above means more to me then anyone else , I love that it all fits in really well with our beautiful little family life.
Got home from camping last night with our treasures having seen giant sausage stealing possums an watching them eat there stolen feast via torchlight with or girls saying things like “wow this is really special isn’t it Mummy” lol Craig had read the girls “Possum Magic” in the tent a few hrs earlier .
Logged in to RB on our return to find I had hit over 60 thousand views which was a huge Birthday surprise for me and Id like to thank everyone for all there kind comments along with all host who have featured my work .RB never ceases to inspire me so many talented artists. Many of you have been kind enough to answer my questions when I needed help and for that I’m grateful.
Below is a quote that means something to me that Id like to share with you all.
You are not your bra size, nor are you the width of your waist, nor are you the slenderness of your calves. You are not your hair color, your skin color, nor are you a shade of lipstick. Your shoe size is of no consequence. You are not defined by the amount of attention you get from males, females, or any combination thereof. You are not the number of sit-ups you can do, nor are you the number of calories in a day. You are not your mustache. You are not the hair on your legs. You are not a little red dress. You are no amalgam of these things. You are the content of your character. You are the ambitions that drive you. You are the goals that you set. You are the things that you laugh at and the words that you say. You are the thoughts you think and the things you wonder. You are beautiful and desirable not for the clique you attend, but for the spark of life within you that compels you to make your life a full and meaningful one. You are beautiful not for the shape of the vessel, but for the volume of the soul it carries.
