Pen and wash portrait of my daughter when she was about nine years old. I drew/painted this portrait as a keepsake for her, something she can show her children.

Art has been my passion since I could first hold a pencil! The teachers were always telling me off for drawing all over my school books!! However life took me in other directions until about 15 years ago when I returned to my love of painting and drawing and began attending classes, and painting and drawing regularly.
I am blessed to live close to nature in the Australian ‘bush’, which gives me constant joy and inspiration to paint.

You got a 9 year old to sit still for you?!
Beautiful work, lovely eyes and smile.

  • No way would she have sat still for me to draw her!!!!A friend took a photo of her, just a little one, but because the expression was so great I decided to use it. Thanks so much for your kind words.

What a lovely picture Hemalata . Thank you for sharing it with us!

  • Thank you Glenda. When I drew/painted it, it was my intention to create something that was like a keepsake for her – to show her kids herself as a child. I’m glad you like it.

She was a beauty! Wonderful portrait!

  • Lovely of you to comment on this portrait – I appreciate it. I found it challenging to do, mainly because I had more of a vested interest in it working out!!
