The Yarra river at Warrandyte, Australia, on the first sunny day of Spring 2008. The village of Warrandyte is next to this river and broad walking tracks allow people and their dogs to enjoy the tranquil beauty.

Nathan Walraven
Beautiful reflection and shot!
Hemalata replied
Thank you so much, Nathan, for your words. It’s a brown river (silt) but has the most beautiful colours and reflections at certain times of the year and day!
mikrin
This is beautiful Hemalata!!
Hemalata replied
Thanks Mike – I’m really glad you like this shot! It’s a beautiful river that seems to take on so many colours and reflections.
blondiegirl
Gorgeous!
Hemalata replied
Thank you Selina so much!
Enivea
Definately a Monet look to me, lovely.
Hemalata replied
What a nice compliment! Thank you Enivea!
Joanne Bradley
What a beautiful soft reflection! Great framing of shot!
Hemalata replied
Thanks a lot, Joanne! I liked the way the dry twigs framed the shot – it was a little hidden cove on the river that I hadn’t visited before.
valzart
Oh! beautiful..luv rivers ;} hugzz
Hemalata replied
Thanks Val- me too, I’m a great lover of rivers and their environments. Sadly, due to prolonged drought, ours aren’t flowing as well or as fully as they have in the past.
shallay
A shot that really works with the sharp focus in the foreground and soft water in the background – heard awful things about the Yarra, your pic surprised me – like it’s further toward the source perhaps with less pollution.
Hemalata replied
Thanks Shallay. Warrandyte is about 25 kilometres from the city of Melbourne, a semi rural outer suburb. People swim in the river here but after rain it can sometimes become polluted.
Thordis
Beautiful image Hemalata!
Hemalata
Thank you so much, Thordis! Lovely of you to comment.
Glenda Remaklus
Very pretty Hemalata .... love the reflections!!
Hemalata replied
Thanks Glenda – it’s my ‘backyard’! Well, just down the road! Wish I had a really good camera and could capture the amazing bird life that lives around the river too!!!
EarthGipsy
Great framing and rippled reflections. Congrats on the feature!
Hemalata replied
thank you so much, Earthgipsy, for your wonderful comments and congrats!

Beautiful image—love the framing and reflections
Hemalata replied
Your kind words are much appreciated, Michael. It was a superb day to capture the subtlety of the light and reflections.
anaisnais

Hemalata replied
Thank you very much, Anaisnais! I’m really glad you like this shot!
arnene
This kind of mesmerised me. I can not compliment in english as i am short of words to express myself fully. In marathi, my regional language, we call it as TARAL.
Hemalata replied
Thank you Arnene – I receive your compliment through the feeling in which it is conveyed and I appreciate it greatly.
arnene
Taral means tranquility. I remembered this word now!
Hemalata replied
Taral! A beautiful word! Yes, it was a very tranquil spot on the river!
amarica
Great shot! Congratulations on being featured in the Light into Darkness group!!!
Hemalata replied
thank you for your supportive words and congratulations, amarica – I really appreciate it!
Rosalie Scanlon
Beautiful image and reflections
Hemalata replied
Thank you so much, Rosalie. The river was an unusual colour this day.
Arletta
I have a horribly bad habit of looking at photographs and imagining them as sketches and paintings. This is because, with mine, that’s often why they exist.
This would be excellent as either by the way!
Also, on it’s own merit, I love the tangly balance of it all.
Hemalata replied
Thank you for that wonderful idea – I might just base a painting on this image. It’s of the river near where I live and even though it is a brown water river (silt) you often see amazingly subtle shades of purple, green etc through the reflections of vegetation and light.
Arletta
Your welcome for the idea. If you do, I’ll be glad to see the painting!
Joy Danen
What a lovely scene sigh… would love to sit here and read. Hemalata, was the sound of water just as soothing?
Hemalata replied
Yes, Joy – it was! There are some gentle rapids nearby and lots of bird calls. The peace of the river is tangible. Thank you so much for commenting.
JamieGreen
This is a lovely image.
Hemalata replied
I appreciate your kind words, Jamie.
