    Beautiful reflection and shot!

  • Hemalata replied

Thank you so much, Nathan, for your words. It’s a brown river (silt) but has the most beautiful colours and reflections at certain times of the year and day!

    Joanne Bradley

What a beautiful soft reflection! Great framing of shot!

  • Hemalata replied

Thanks a lot, Joanne! I liked the way the dry twigs framed the shot – it was a little hidden cove on the river that I hadn’t visited before.

    valzart

    Oh! beautiful..luv rivers ;} hugzz

  • Hemalata replied

Thanks Val- me too, I’m a great lover of rivers and their environments. Sadly, due to prolonged drought, ours aren’t flowing as well or as fully as they have in the past.

A shot that really works with the sharp focus in the foreground and soft water in the background – heard awful things about the Yarra, your pic surprised me – like it’s further toward the source perhaps with less pollution.

  • Hemalata replied

Thanks Shallay. Warrandyte is about 25 kilometres from the city of Melbourne, a semi rural outer suburb. People swim in the river here but after rain it can sometimes become polluted.

This kind of mesmerised me. I can not compliment in english as i am short of words to express myself fully. In marathi, my regional language, we call it as TARAL.

  • Hemalata replied

Thank you Arnene – I receive your compliment through the feeling in which it is conveyed and I appreciate it greatly.

  • arnene

I have a horribly bad habit of looking at photographs and imagining them as sketches and paintings. This is because, with mine, that’s often why they exist.

This would be excellent as either by the way!

Also, on it’s own merit, I love the tangly balance of it all.

  • Hemalata replied

Thank you for that wonderful idea – I might just base a painting on this image. It’s of the river near where I live and even though it is a brown water river (silt) you often see amazingly subtle shades of purple, green etc through the reflections of vegetation and light.

  • Arletta

    Arletta

Your welcome for the idea. If you do, I’ll be glad to see the painting!

What a lovely scene sigh… would love to sit here and read. Hemalata, was the sound of water just as soothing?

  • Hemalata replied

Yes, Joy – it was! There are some gentle rapids nearby and lots of bird calls. The peace of the river is tangible. Thank you so much for commenting.
