Water World - Mother Goose Grazing by

This Canadian goose has been on her own for a few days on a forest lake near my place and she set “sails” towards me as soon as she saw me on the road. She climbed out of the water and started feeding from what little grass she could find.

I sat down beside her and shot a series of photos and we had a very pleasant get-together on the lakeside. It came to an end when somebody approached walking his dog. She dived back in and left to a safer distance from this possible danger.

She recently arrived from her winter quarters and something must have happened to her mate. All other water fowls are together with their mates now and geese live in lifelong partnerships.

I found it very touching to sit beside her and be her friend for a little while.

I am a nature lover and an amateur photographer.
Nature is my main inspiration.Snow and ice, birds and water keep attracting my eye. So do trees amd flowers.
I am also interested in myth and history, especially the history of women, the `herstory´. I love to travel and to visit archeological sites and beautiful landscapes.
I use a compact camera, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28
