Artist's Description

Poseidon, the god of the
sea and of earthquakes
in Greek mythology,
is one of the most popular
symbols for the city of Gothenburg,
coastal city on the west coast of Sweden.
It was sculpted by Carl Milles.
In the background is the
Art Museum, erected for the
300-year jubilee 1923 of the
foundation of Gothenburg
by Gustavus II Adolphus.
