This sculpture of a woman
is one of four, one for each
corner of the Earth. They
are supporting a huge
column on which stands
the statue of King Pedro IV,
who was also the first
“Emperor of Brasil”.
It was erected in1874.
Lisbon can show off
many impressive
buildings and monuments
paid for with the riches,
generated by its colonies.
