Scene at the bottom of the ocean found in a translucent stone (flint) in a wall. You can see the mortar that holds the stone on the right and bottom… and small bits of mortar that have become plants or coral forms. Flint is a very common building material found in many walls in the West Sussex area of the UK. These images were captured in Chillgrove, a village near the famous Goodwood estate.
Nikon D90 / NIKKOR Micro 85mm Cool temp shift to add a touch of blue to help the illusion. You can see the mortar that holds the stone on the right and bottom… and small bits of mortar that have become plants or coral forms.
Thank you, Dot! I’ve been going over these files from the UK last month and turning them this way and that. Amazing the variety of fishy shapes. I keep thinking about your ‘parallel universe’ theory!! lol!
These stones are just so fascinating to play with and find the worlds they contain. I’ve never found anything like that here. Quartz has a little of the same translucent qualities… but isn’t as interesting. Thanks, Mr G!
Congratulations on your well earned feature in “Accidental Images (hidden pictures”. Well captured!
Norm, thank you so much!! A nice surprise!! :-)

The illusion works well – wonderfully done.
Thank you Cynthia! I didn’t know what the stone was but just yesterday was watching a program based on the West Sussex area and they mentioned the “flint” walls! It’s really amazing all the different forms in the stones.
