Scratches, rust, paint and dirt on the firewall of an old car.
I see a group of school children and a teacher with a large mouth and wild hair trying to keep them in line during a field trip to the city. One child has had enough and answers in kind.

the firewall of an old car

??? Buildings have walls, and could have a firewall, but a car? I’m terribly confuzzled.

    Nice scene though…. :)

  • I don’t know what you call it but, it’s the protective shield between the driver and the engine. This would be on the engine side, with the dash board on the driver side. The holes are for the wiring harness to go through and other mechanical stuff. I looked in there and saw the scratches and dirt and said ’Don’t close that up!!’ and tried to get more light on it!

Had to pay attention for this one, but I totally see it now!

  • We had just finished the World Wide Photo Walk in the city and had seen groups of children being ‘herded’ about by their chaparones, so the figures jumped out at me right away. There is an underwater scene on the lower right with a very well defined mermaid… but not enough detail. Need to go back with my Micro lens!! :-D

Ah, thanks for that explanation! ‘Shield’ makes sense to me, ‘wall’ not! :D

  • I thought maybe it was something like a cultural difference of terms. :-) Here it’s a ‘wall’… and a necessary one! They do look fabulously messy when they’ve been sitting next to a dirty engine for decades! Lucky for me!!
