Peony - Alley Cat by Susana Weber
Clear

I’ve been complaining about this peony since I bought it 4 years ago… until yesterday. It finally showed its pretty face. I almost moved it to the compost heap… so glad I didn’t! :-) I dedicate this image to my friend Donna… who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1990 and finally in September had the critical surgery (deep brain stimulation) that stopped the shaking. She has had the most inspiring attitude and outlook on life… and never gave up looking for a ‘cure’ for her disease. She’s not cured but can live so much more comfortably! A lesson for all of us… to never give up!!

wow….good thing it avoided the compost heap. it’s gorgeous. what a great shot, ms S

  • Hey, Mikey! Believe me, it did not look this good the last 4 years! It’s supposed to be different… twisted petals… sort of rough… alley cat! But it looked way beyond that. Patience pays… or procrastination… just as good!

What a pretty compost heap! Errr, peonie! :) I have a plant like that – except it hasn’t shown its pretty face even after five or six years (I lost count).

  • No blooms at all… or blooms that are not good? Peonies are very sensitive to the depth they are planted. Could be too deep if you have no blooms at all. They like to be shallow. You probably knew that… sorry… I’m just full of advice today! ;-)

Nah, my stubborn plant is not a peony (though I tried that on my balcony and I found it didn’t like being in a tub) but a honeysuckle. I had one that flowered, but this one never does. :(

  • That is a shame… and honeysuckle has such a wonderful scent when it’s blooming! :-(
