After some assistance from Robert, I think I have determined that this is Dianella Tasmanica.

Thanks for your comment on my native flora snapshots.Looking at both the berries and the strappy looking leaves in the background my wild guess is that it is a species of Dianella, possible Dianelle Revoluta. These have a small purple flower that is replaced by a purple fruit (berries) that stay on the plant for a number of months.Cheers Rob
