Those hearts on the carousel remind me of Frida Khalo’s work, I think carousels are beautiful but have a sinister tinge to them…but then I am rather afraid of clown faces too. I like the way it is night and the neons illuminate the painting, but where are the people? Perhaps it is just the heartfelt memories that ride on this phantom carousel tonight. ~ Anni :)

oh my lord hel!!your art is always two or more things- not only do we see your amazing art talent- but we see also the emotional messages hidden and not? so hidden in them- a pretty seascape or land, or bowel of flowers is always delightful to see and enjoy- but a helene ruiz, comands your attention to wake up and see real life being laid out in front of you, and thats balliz as hell!you are a freda-of the bronx-today-i,d like to say i feel your pain, but we know only=we= can feel our pain-but still! through you and other brave artists- we see a reflection of a part of our voyage into this life both wondeful and dam scary to us- thank you very much for your kind words ,hel, we =all are one of a kind-= just visting this hell hole, that is so mulifaced in joys and damnations-when i wake up now, i asked, why the hell i,m living, then get and go on , just like you,our little, habit or obsession keeps us sane?and gives us reason to hope today will have hours in it of ?small seconds or minutes of pleasues-paz loony me!

  • helene ruiz replied

thank u so much my favorite loony mad! at least im not alone in my “loony” life !!! smilez

this is an incredible piece Helene! Reading madviads comments I would have to agree-on the sensitivity thing- Sometimes I think our art is what keeps us marginally from going insane! People say “you are so normal Cheryl”- I say “yes… now”

Apart from the body parts this is a bit of a departure from your usual style. Maybe you wanted to feel dizzy :)

You and Walt (Madvlad) both have very unique styles in your own different ways. I realise now that sentence is a bit silly because of course your unique styles would be different, otherwise they wouldn’t be unique :) I too strive to be different sometimes. Wouldn’t it be hellishly boring if we all painted the same way.

  • helene ruiz replied

    of course…...embrace the difference!

    Carousel of Time….
    we’re capted in a carousel of time…
    we can’t return …
    we can only go,
    behind from where we came
and go round , go round , go round
    in a circle time
    ...(Joni Mitchell)

    Little horses of defeated freedom.
    Litlle arms of conscious depletion
Little carousel lended by the moon shadow.
    Little dream about cyclic emptyness…
Little us…. capted in a nightmare of eternities.
Rosa (beautiful….and reallly disquieting…sometimes to look into your art with intention is really hard, unbereable. Why, because the direct pain has a transformative power into the soul, and though the imagining and fear that it creeps into us coming from other’s experiences is somehow a sick feeling, and alien to our own real essence…many persons know that and know how to use it on others.. have a warm hug!)

  • helene ruiz replied
