this painting was inspired by my best friend who passed 1 wekk after i finsihed this….it was the last time i saw her alive…she had been battling kidney disease and then suffered from acute mywoblastic leukemia, this was her time of chemotherapy…. the entire month had been a very emotional one because at the same time my sister who has MS was taking care of her husband hand and foot while he was battling liver cancer…he also has since passed….i also had to include the spine hanging out from her ripped open chest cavity exposing her heart because of the pain i was enduring with my back problems….i wanted to show strength in the woman, as she was still “big” and carrying on despite all that was goin on…thanks for all the comments everyone

  • helene ruiz replied

for sure thank u…...and no….no book for me, although i appreciated Blyth writing a little about me..i prefer my privacy and prefer most to not know so much about my experiences…i dont like pity nor do i like to exploit disability and profit from it…i like keeoing it on the surreal side…and whoever figures it out from my work does, and whoever doesnt just doesnt…guess im a little nutty(lol)...adding u to my watchlist…thnx and peace!

Endurance is not a hardening… but a forgin of the soul.
I am not wishing anyone to suffer in order to be forged….
Sometimes I think that some persons have got too much “lots” of suffering… in the benefit of the other ones.
So… when something does happen to me… and thanks god not so horrible till now, i tell.. well…..the suffering have to be “lotted”.... “shared”....
Your works are mostly talking about it.
They cannot be more clear…. more real.

  • helene ruiz replied

thank u, all my works are a result of my reality, once i became disabled in 2002, they put me on morphine because the pain was soooo excrutiating, i painted and painted and one day realized i had missed a couple of doses of meds..lol…felt ok while i painted, therefore, my art is now my meds, my Rx….it may seem fanatical, but i paint constantly.(have over 500 pieces lol)..but it keeps me alive, keeps me going and where words cannot describe what i feel, i feel relived i have expressed it thru a painting

Exceptional presentation, Helene! Complex and intelligent! Masterful! I like the way you describe your art, wanting the viewer to make up his or her own mind.
