pheww…there’s a lot that could be said about this painting….I believe it could be open to many interpretations…all along the same theme of course. Fantastic image.
helene ruiz
this painting was inspired by my best friend who passed 1 wekk after i finsihed this….it was the last time i saw her alive…she had been battling kidney disease and then suffered from acute mywoblastic leukemia, this was her time of chemotherapy…. the entire month had been a very emotional one because at the same time my sister who has MS was taking care of her husband hand and foot while he was battling liver cancer…he also has since passed….i also had to include the spine hanging out from her ripped open chest cavity exposing her heart because of the pain i was enduring with my back problems….i wanted to show strength in the woman, as she was still “big” and carrying on despite all that was goin on…thanks for all the comments everyone

Censorship: My comment was just deleted.
“The reason this reminds everyon of Frida Kahlo is that it looks distinctly like one of her paintings:

helene ruiz replied
tried to see the link u sent not working?....is it correct? please check…really interested in seeing this
helene ruiz replied
wow! ur link didnt work but i googled the title and frida kahlo…yes i guess we share a similar pain and story….just a little different interpretation as mine included 3 parties who were dealing with pain and illnesses////Thnx so much for the info! I love frida’s work!...
helene ruiz
who deleted it?
lynauklet
I can only assume it was the artist, unless there is some sort of glitch.
helene ruiz replied
must be a glitch…not me

I’m surprised that as such a Frida Kahlo fan, you’ve never seen this painting. It’s quite famous.
lynauklet
It’s a good movie. Selma Hayek is a very talented actress.
It’s worth watching again, anyway, but yeah, you should check if this painting shows up in it again. Frankly, I forget. It’s been a while.
Peace to you too.

delphoto
do you have a story somewhere that i can read?, you are very interesting to me, thanks for sharing this piece.
helene ruiz replied
Well Blythart wrote a little something about me…..
He is a wonderful artist and person…I was so humbled that he did that..i had no idea he thought about me like that to write a little something about me….He is here on RB and while ur at it … have a look at his work! It is fabulous!! Thanks Delphoto! I truly enjoyed ur portfolio…Ur photographs are fantastic in theme and quality and composition…wish i could use a camera like that! Peace and creative blessings to u!
delphoto
i read that little piece about you, thanks again it was great, have you thought of doing a book? anyway, thanks for the words on my photo’s, the one called ‘father and son’ is one of my fav’s, thats my son, and I so relate to your brilliant art, lets keep an eye on each others work, see you Helene, thanks for ‘keeping it real’ Kim from delphoto
helene ruiz replied
for sure thank u…...and no….no book for me, although i appreciated Blyth writing a little about me..i prefer my privacy and prefer most to not know so much about my experiences…i dont like pity nor do i like to exploit disability and profit from it…i like keeoing it on the surreal side…and whoever figures it out from my work does, and whoever doesnt just doesnt…guess im a little nutty(lol)...adding u to my watchlist…thnx and peace!

Endurance is not a hardening… but a forgin of the soul.
I am not wishing anyone to suffer in order to be forged….
Sometimes I think that some persons have got too much “lots” of suffering… in the benefit of the other ones.
So… when something does happen to me… and thanks god not so horrible till now, i tell.. well…..the suffering have to be “lotted”.... “shared”....
Your works are mostly talking about it.
They cannot be more clear…. more real.
Rosa (thanks a lot for yo8r visit to My Corridor of Time, helene)

Amazing… I’m so glad you could create something so beautiful as a result of so much pain, it’s a great tribute. X
helene ruiz replied
thank u, all my works are a result of my reality, once i became disabled in 2002, they put me on morphine because the pain was soooo excrutiating, i painted and painted and one day realized i had missed a couple of doses of meds..lol…felt ok while i painted, therefore, my art is now my meds, my Rx….it may seem fanatical, but i paint constantly.(have over 500 pieces lol)..but it keeps me alive, keeps me going and where words cannot describe what i feel, i feel relived i have expressed it thru a painting
Julialala
You’re incredibly strong, I’m so glad you’ve joined The Art of Pain!! I know exactly what you mean when you say art keeps you alive. I think it’s wonderful that we’re able to express so much through an artwork that is otherwise inexplicable, it’s truly amazing! All your work is beautiful, I love it. =]
helene ruiz replied
awe thank u so much…..i think sometimes life can deal us some unexpected cards to wake us up to realize the importance of using the gifts we were blessed with, seems we take them for granted without the wake-up call…well i did, but now i realize the important impact it has on my survival and coping

Exceptional presentation, Helene! Complex and intelligent! Masterful! I like the way you describe your art, wanting the viewer to make up his or her own mind. I feel the same way about my writing, thinking a work as a door-opener when successful, never for a moment dreaming that I should be telling anyone the correct way to think or fell about anything. You have extraordinary talent.
