I started with a photograph that I set up and captured. The objects and flowers were arranged to face the Northern light that streams through myhome. I edited in Photoshop and hand painted with Corel Painter and my stylus and graphics tablet.

    I am soooo… pleased to have this image featured in the Impressionist Art group.
    This image is also one of several of mine featured in print in the latest issue: number 24 of the Corel Painter Official Magazine. It is in a 4 page spread in full colour. Those poppies and glass marbles have given me and others a lot of pleasure-and for that I am truly grateful. Cheers Helen

    I thought this was a painting. Photos always do well on this site. yet they take a fraction of the time of painting. I’m sure most don’t know, or care, about that fact.
    I do both.
    This is such a classy and classic looking composition, irrespective of the media used. A skillful work. Beautiful colours.

    In my humble opinion, I don’t think that the way a painting or photograph talks to us – or simply works – is anything to do with the time it takes to produce a good outcome. I’ve slaved over some things over a few years trying to shape them into an aesthetically pleasing result-when really, I should have scrapped them and started over. (Even the time spent on a dud is not wasted time).

    ...and then there are the moments when images come together with such ease that it seems to be magic! (This still life was one of those moments.)

    A photograph taken by a master can capture and contain that magic and enables the viewer to see through his/her eyes with a vision far above most of us poor mortals.

    I have a high regard for photographers and artists who help us to ‘see’...
    (Oh dear, this is starting to sound like an essay lol)
