Hpan-An, Myanmar
Male Myanmar Buddhists enter the monastry at least twice in their lives, once as a novice between the ages of 7 and 20, and again later to fully ordained. There doesn’t appear to be a time limit, they can enter for a few days, weeks or sometimes for their lives.
The monastries offer an education but that’s it. Food is provided by the people and the lodgings are extremely basic!
