My sister and brother in law are great pot gardeners – this is the beginning of a beautiful zucchini (or does the zucchini grow at the base?)

Welcome to the world of Hege Nolan. I’m fascinated by the world and everything it contains. There is a focus on food and still lifes here, which sometime surprises me given my past history of portraits! (well, food doesn’t move or pull silly faces)
Thank you, it’s amazing what mother nature can do with her palette.

Lovely and soft :p
Oh thank you.
The flower is only the begging of a beautiful relatiionship Hegsi1! It coaxes the insects to tickle its stamens (inside) then, in a little while, a bulge starts at the base of the flower resulting (hopefully) in a zucchini! Just like with pumpkin plants, the younger fully opened flowers can be eaten too!Orange, purple and green – perfect combination of secondary colours! Works well. A lovely ‘natural’ photo you have here. Thanks for sharing it with us. Kind regards Cobie :-)
Thank you Cobe, so which one is the male, and which one female? more research required. Personally I love zucchini flowers stuffed with goats cheese then tempura’d. yum. that could make for an interesting photo shoot, don’t you think? Take care. Hegs
hmmm sounds good to me! But woops – mixed the sexes – female flowers have their ‘multi segmented’ STIGMA’s that need to be tickled ANDa little ‘baby pumpkin’ is at its base! hahahaIf you’re interested, look up http://www.pumpkinnook.com/howto/pollen.htm I have many gardening type books now but I find the net a fantastic (and easier) resource. ENJOY!!
Thank you for submitting such beautiful work!
Squeal! a feature. Thankyou so much.
fantastic! Love the comment above about perfect combination of secondary colours. It was spot on.
What an appealing shot! And now I’ve learned a lot more about zucchini and how it grows. Makes a splendid subject for a photo—clever you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Makes me miss my veggie garden. Lovely capture!
Thankyou so much.
