This male dingo is a 2 year old male. One of 3 males and 1 female rescued after their mother was killed. They are in a sanctuary in Violet Town Victoria (AU) The sanctuary has 5 different groups of dingos from all of Australia They are kept in their area groups and do not mix. If they breed its is with the area group dingos and not mixed. All dingoes are DNA tested and some lines go back 300 years. The males all interacted with the visitors and you can see but took their time getting to know you. The female interacted with the keeper but kept away from the visitors

    This is adorable,

  • It was a very lovely experience to see and be informed of what dingoes are all about. Particularly the different areas that they come from and the difference in body structures. I have always beleived that dingoes were reddish in colour but they varied from cream(Alpine) to black and tan

Very interesting read. Love the picture. So are dingo’s protected in your country then? Are they allowed as pets, or too wild for that?

  • Sorry about reply People around the place brag that they have a dingo for a pet. The truth is a little stretched some times but people do have them. Our local Vet has one she brought back from NW Australia NW Dingoes in the wild are not protected and Australia Governments have built at least 2 fences over thousands of kilometres trying to keep them out of farming areas The fences are still maintained today. I think you can get a lot of info on the internet Dingoes as a pet need lots of attention and secure fencing as you cant change the nature of the wild dog. They also tend to become more reclusive as they get older and dont like to much contact with the owner or other people Hope that Helps Cyril
