INTRODUCING SUKI..age 4months.
(dated August 3, 2012 for One A Day group)
March 2012, Suki was found pitifully meowing under the hood of a car, near the engine. The finders were my next door neighbors, who already had a dog, a cat, a 16 year old daughter a 5 year old daughter and a baby boy expected this month August, 2012.
They do not have much income, and so they found a vet service to spay her at no charge. Then they discovered she had fleas… and could not afford the costly flea medication. They bombed the house to kill the fleas because their baby is due soon and then kept her outside on their back cement patio.
One hot day under the summer sun and 90 degree California temperature, I heard her crying. I went over to their gate, and poked my fingers through the space between the gate and the fence. She ran to me… rubbed her head against my fingers… and stayed there as long as I was there. This went on for 3 days.
Finally I couldn’t stand it any longer and knocked on their door.
I offered to take her. They were very thankful and relieved.
Suki has been with us for four days… and the first night she slept in the crook of my arm, all night , in bed.
As I write this with my right hand, she is nestled, sound asleep in my left arm, curled up like the baby that she is.
She no longer has fleas and is a very welcome addition to our family of cats: Munchkin, 12 years old, Little Boy, almost 5 years old, Sophia, 4 years old, and Missy 2 years old.
We still mourn the passing of Mischa Baryshnikat, a few months ago at age 15.
