I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR!
A few walkers from the 3 Day Susan J. Komen Walk For The Cure.. in San Diego.
These four walkers were coming out of one of the many rest stops for three thousand men and women who are walking 60 miles over three days this weekend, raising money to fight for the cure of breast cancer.

MY STORY:
When I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, affecting only 2-3% of American women and I was given a 50/50% chance of a 5 year survival, I was sure I was a dead woman. However, I am still here today… 18 years later!!*
When I saw these walkers today.. I had to get out and give and get hugs! Although this walk is a fight for a breast cancer cure.. any of us who have had cancer.. and have survived.. feel a great sisterhood with other women who have had ANY sort of cancer
Dedicated to the men and women who have lost their battle with the big C

The big C took my best friend way too early. I know many who have fought and won this battle and for that I am so thankful to God for His blessings!!!

  • I am thankful too….

Love it! I used to be a mammography. My mother survived breast cancer and lived another 25 – or was it 35 years – before dying of non Ca related causes. Congratulations on winning your battle too. Our Australian Government has just cut scientific funding and research funding over the board and we are so disgusted! There are rallies around the country in protest today. Hope it makes them reconsider. They are also changing the climate change obligations to the world as well. Disgusting and I am so sorry I voted them in.

I was so irate about our Australian Government and the reversal of some policies that I described myself as having been a mammography rather than a mammography.! At least I thought I had until typing in this comment when the computer keeps changing the ‘pher’ to ‘phy’.

  • LOLOL! to the typing.. but I am appalled at the Aussie gov’t…BTW> Why are the mammography plates so COLD!!?

Don’t know that I have ever noticed the ’coldness"! Do know it is advisable too have a mammogram midway thru a menstrual cycle rather than when your breasts have more fluid in them as they do when you are menstruating. I also do not have a yearly mammogram (as many advise) after a Swedish report said that although Mammograms were detecting more breast cancers there was evidence they were also causing more – albeit they were detecting them at a treatable stage because of the routine procedure. A necessary evil perhaps? Sobering!

  • Thank you .. very interesting information…
I am WAYYYY past menopause….so I guess it doesn’t matter when I get them!
