The Wood At Dusk

The radiant orange sun dips beneath the horizon
welcoming the nightI lay in a blanket of leaves
staring at the towering trees above
as colors swirl and twirl
Red, Orange, and Brown leaves
soaring down to the earth
tickling my nose as they glide past
The musty smell of wood and bark
Falls over me, blanketing me like a spring shower
A determined centipede crawls
Over stones in its path
as ants parade over my toes
The smell of fragrant flowers fill the air
and slowly softly slowly softly
As darkness encompassed the wood
Shadows overtake the darkness
as all the animals settle
I drift away on a cloud
falling into a world of dreams
with the crickets song as my lullaby
