Puss n puss by Heidi Schwandt Garner
Clear

These two didn’t have names…..just their breeders names. They got called ‘puss’. A lovely Maine Coon and a Siamese. A commission that was a surprise for the clients husband. It was a joy to take the reference photos for this piece, both cats playing away, content, and then the Siamese deciding I had to play too…a game of ‘fetch’ with a shoe lace :)
Colour pencil and white gouache on mat board. 38 × 48cm 2004

It was really nice of them to pose for you.. what you bribe them with – catnip???? Very well done piece..

  • When I do the animal portraits I have to take reference photos to work from and nine out of ten never pose! I take many photos and compose a picture, sort of working to the clients requirements. This is the case for this one too, although the cats were playing, all the photos of them were separate, even separate pics of the cat gym for reference
