Bush fires
I live in the small town of Boolarra, Victoria, Australia. This little town has just gone through the devastation of bush fire. I was lucky, I still have a house. 12 houses were lost in this town and 30 all together over the 6300ha (approx) that was burnt. Without writing a book, I couldn’t even begin to describe the fear, adrenalin, emotions that go through you when you are faced with this. And as for the fire fighters (my partner is one) I salute you! Bushland that I have painted such as ‘Barktown Light’ no longer exists. But I know it will regenerate to the beauty it was before. My thoughts go to those that weren’t as lucky as me. Hugs,
Heidi

Yes Heidi I couldn’t agree more and I have seen it on the news last night. How devastating it would be to loose every thing you have and have built all your life. The worst thing is to know that someone who might be living in the community could be the one that has lit these fires. My heart goes out the all the people and the fire fighters who have put there lives at risk fighting these fires.

I 100% agree with Noelene…....see my comment on your work.
CFS/CFA volunteers are my HEROES, and they are completely underappreciated by the general community. Very sorry to hear of the devestating fires in your area…...we have been lucky so far this summer, but there is a lot more weather to come :(.......My thoughts and prayers are with your community xxx

Mere words cannot express what I feel! This is such sad news Heidi, and I hope you are not too traumatised. I can identify very strongly with you! (Was in a similar situation about 5 years ago)! My heart goes out to you. My husband is also a fire fighter. I hate this time of year! Don’t worry – it will regenerate. I feel for all those people who have lost their homes. XO

Must be hard to feel so helpless in such a situation where there is little control and I can’t imagine what it’s like but all I can say is I hope the future will bring lots of healing and renewed life!

Oh Heidi, this most recent fire must be bringing all those emotions back again for you. I hope this is the last of the devastation, and my heart goes out to you and to all who have been affected.
