Dark Unicorn
A work I did many moons ago and a subject matter I find myself drawn to revisit. This picture is done in pastel pencils on pastel paper. Size approx – 48cm x 68cm. 1987 Sold

This is incredible. The reflection of the hoof is a nice touch too. I seem to have developed a mental block about pastels and have never “got into them”. I feel more comfortable with a pointed drawing implement. What are pastel pencils? Are they like ordinary pencils to look at, or more like those stubby pastel sticks?

They look like pencils, maybe a bit chunkier, they have a pastel core in them. Less mess than normal pastels and used for more detailed work. :)

Umm, wow, thank you so much :) At school (long time ago) when I got bored, I doodled..scribbled all over my paper. Some I have saved and re-drawn them into ‘real pieces’. This unicorn is one of them.
