Well, I suppose the title is self explanatory….isn’t it? Have a look at my pastel painting ‘Barktown Light’ That bushland (and my town…11 homes lost) has gone through devastating bushfire. This is what ‘Barktown light looks like now :(

I have seen the worst of it and it’s rebirth only to be repeated elsewhere, we fight the fires that leave a smell you have captured in this photo, Ash and charred wood, it would be nice if we could forget the suffering that goes along with such a view.

Hi Ken, we were lucky here, the fires we were in (Delburn complex) were the week before the ‘Ash Saturday’ fires. I don’t think of what would have happened if it all occurred on the same weekend. I find it hard enough not to cry every time I think of the ones who suffered so…...
