Losing Heart

Losing Heart

“Losing Heart” was a how I felt last summer when I was depressed about the way things were going. Mid-life and all can lead to feeling like truth, control, belief, desire and hope are illusions.

The beauty of the colors in this piece and their careful arrangement are an expression of the spirit that keeps me going through trying times.

The original artwork is an 11” x 11”, mixed media mosaic.
I created this beaded shrine to the swiftness of time with bugle beads, seed beads, rhinestones, Swarovsky crystals, metallic, silver, & brass embellishments. Flowers and feathers accent a velvety-rich pink and gold dichroic glass heart.

Losing Heart belongs to the following groups:

AWESOME and beautiful…. im sure the actual piece is stunning to see in all its glory….

  • Diana Maus replied

Thanks, the feathers are especially nice in person. Photographibg these has been a real challenge. Do I show them ablaze with light or use a shaded area to highlight the compstion and screen out any unwanted glints of light that obscure the detail? hmmm.

The hummingbird and heart tell me everything’s going to be alright. Reaching the middle years is a portal that can take us to a higher, spiritually potent place of personal power but it also opens wide the vaults of the soul as well. Some slam the doors firmly shut and lock them tight while others may be afraid but go inside anyway to find out what’s there. Now its time to bead what you found.

  • Diana Maus replied

Thank you Helena. My mother’s name was Helen. Yes these pieces are about digging out the pain and making it bearable. And about triumphing over it. There is a life force that is hard to knock down.
