This Old Man: Future Images
This is an oil painting done after the smog in Los Angeles reached critical mass in the late 70’s. The sky looked like brown soup. It suggests that “Clean Air” was possible only in a different future. This old man, with gas mask, isn’t optimistic, having been witness to man’s disregard for the environment for a long, long, long time.
It is signed by Diana Bauer, which was me, Diana Maus, in earlier days…

Certain things are not comfortable to assume… but breathing….and water are the bases of Life… you word is devastating and yet.. the “mouth” of clean sky that is showing through is a hope and a reminder of what should be… if we would be really conscious about it. Aparta from that your work is artistic and tremendous..I love it.Itisreally well thought and done.
