You've Got Heart

You've Got Heart

You’ve Got Heart is a 5” x 7” (artwork size) mixed media mosaic framed with a black shadow-box that opens.

A heart doctor doesn’t deal only with the physical heart but the emotional heart as well. My doctor inspired this piece with his wonderful, warm care.

My work is hand-beaded by gluing each bead, jewel and embellishment one by one onto foam-core using tweezers and toothpicks. I love this kind of meditative labor. I use vintage Swarovski buttons and crystals, a huge deep red and gold dichroic heart, beads, silver charms and lots of Czech bugle beads.

You've Got Heart belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Altered Art - Collage and Assemblage, Mixed Media and Something To Say Available for sale as

Greeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

    Lovely work. Craft meets art.
It’s great to see this sort of work shared here, something different from the crowd.. thankyou!

Thanks. This is very different than the work I’ve done as an illustrator/graphic artist for the last 20 years (I retired from that to go back to my fine art). It was the current hand-made crafts movement that inspired me to use other materials in my work now. Plus I am chemically sensitive to all oil painting materials now and that was my preferred medium.

This is cool it reminds me I have toyed with the idea of sewing beads to an acrylic on canvas for about 1 year now and still havent done it… very nice work!!!

  • Diana Maus replied

Thanks Rebecca, I don’t sew, I hand glue every bead on to a firm surface. You should try it. It’s very meditative. But the canvas idea sounds great too. I just hate getting poked by needles!

Yes, Diana, this is HEART! Beautiful! Love it! Understand re the CHEMICAL sensitivity..! @ theatre I have to move because of PERFUME!! Do you use white glue? How lovely that you have found such a caring Dr. Hope U R WELL :? )

  • Diana Maus replied

Thank you, I have a chronic illness but am well otherwise – I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ugh). I use an assortment of water based, non-VOC glues from the craft store. It’s amazing what you can find!
