Thank you – ‘fingerprint’ is the expression I was looking for! I even had someone point at one of my beach pictures, and say ‘Oh, we have that at Bloemendaal!’ – and indeed Bloemendaal was exactly where it was taken… My beach collection is ever-growing, I have posted only a small sample so far… :)

…there’s a great sense of place in your pictures from the island, Hélène – so bleak, wild and wonderful. It would be a tragedy if that development went ahead and it was turned into yet another ‘premier world class destination entertainment resort’

I’ve never seen anything like this, but I have found that specific locations on the shore tend to have their own specific, recognizable patterns…
So this might be the fingerprint of Failaka northeastern shore. Time to start another of your collections ! ;-)
