The bridge to Bubyan – Kuwait Leading to the island just opposite the iraqi border. The island being uninhabited (all marshland…), this 2 km long bridge wasn’t needed by anybody, but was built as a demonstrative mark of ownership over the land by the Kuwaitis after the war.
Interesting tale – I like what FailingMemory has to say….
Thank you Sheila ! Now the Kuwaitis plan to build here the biggest port in the Middle East. If you look closely at the map, you notice that the Iraqi part of the shore on the Gulf, between Iran and Kuwait, is hardly larger than the width of the river… Explains a lot of things…

Thanks a lot Danica, the place is a bit sinister as it is completely silent and quiet, a great atmosphere indeed…

That foreground pipe lends such an air of mystery to the scene…good eye Helene.
Thank you Lee, this pipe appeared to me a perfect allusion to the guns of the recent war…

Wonderful capture of the symbolism of humanity on the landscape Helene
I knew a photographer like you would get the symbols of the super-tele-lens and the scale of diaphragms… ;-)
